Thanksgiving note

Mike and I had a lovely Thanksgiving at home this year. Like everyone else, we made lots of food and it was delish. I'm heading out to Texas tomorrow for a meeting and to visit with the family. Mom and Steve are returning from Australia on Saturday evening and I'm picking them up at the airport in San Antonio. I'll be staying with my sister most of the week so we should have a nice little visit. I'm looking forward to it.

Bought it!!!!

Well, we're home....and we own a brand-spanking new RV. It's crazy! I cannot believe we actually own an RV...a big friggin motorhome! We went to the dealership and did our checkout then test drove it (actually for the first time). Mike did pretty good and then I had to drive! Whoa...it's big. At first, I just stuck to the frontage road at a quick 35 mph but eventually I was able to get it up to 45mph :) It's definetly going to take some practice. Mike was able to get it back to the storage area in one piece. He really did a very good job. The traffic only had to move out of his way one time. I guess that's the good thing about being the bigger vehicle/bus. He was able to back into our storage spot, with my help, on the first try. I'm in shock....and nervous. But then again, I felt the same way when we moved here, signed a two year contract at my job, bought a house, and had no idea if we would even like the town or job. It all turned out pretty good. Whatever happens, we'll make the best of it.

Almost there

Mike went today and settled the financing. We would be owners today but I said I wanted to sign the paperwork and go through the final delivery/orientation. He went back through the one we picked and said it was as nice as we remembered it. We also bought a tow bar for my jeep. Apparently we have to buy a additional braking system for the jeep because it weighs too much. Probably the 4x4 we never use. Anyway, I love my jeep and I'm happy to keep it. We picked up Mike's jeep today from the lot. No calls. Next week, we'll take it to another lot for advertisement to sell it. After that, the newspaper. We sold out big screen TV today, so now we have the little bedroom TV in it's spot. It's pathetic, really. We will be getting an LCD or plasma for the RV. Also, I went today, and rented an RV storage spot for the next 3 months until my contract is up at the hospital. At least we have somewhere to store the jewel until move into it. Mike decided to have it winterized at no cost in case we don't use it until the spring. I really don't see that happening but... what the hell, it didn' t cost us anything. This is crazy! I'm so excited! I'm sure we'll be spending some time at the storage place just getting use to it and airing it out. The new smell give me such a headache. But I really am excited! Absolutely!!!!

Jamaica

We made it back from Jamaica despite the tornado warnings. Of course, once the plane landed there were tornado warnings all around us, especially between our arrival airport and our home. It was nerve racking. The pilot thought we would beat the storm but once we arrived the landing was pretty uneasy. I would write more about Jamaica, but I just can't.... We had fun, relaxed, ate alot, and, in general, took it easy. Prior to leaving, we put down a holding fee on that RV that we liked and sent in some financing paperwork. I'm excited and kind of freaked at the same time.

Sunday afternoon

We have found a possible place to store our new RV, should we decide to buy it. We have decided to take a last minute trip to Jamaica. We leave on Thursday and return on Tuesday. Should be a great time! Hopefully the weather cooperates. Thank goodness hurricane season is over.

Tiffin motorhome?

Today we went to look at some Tiffin Allegro motorhomes. Before today, we were looking at a 34ft Allegro. But today...we found one that we like a whole lot better. Unfortunately, it's a good deal more expensive. It's a 37ft Allegro Bay and it sure is pretty. Of all the things we would like our coach to have, this one comes the closest. So do we buy now and take on an extra payment until we sell our house? or wait and risk it being sold and have to look for another one that we may not like as much? or suck it up, buy it, and break it in before we actually have to live in it fulltime, which may not be a bad thing. In fact, I think that would be pretty fun, but can we afford it. If we could sell the Jeep, which has been on the sale lot for 3 days, I think we could swing it. We'll see what works out.
