Merry Christmas!

Gotta love those 3 day weekends. Mike and I were unable to make it back to Texas for the holidays. The flights schedules didn't work out or the cost was unreasonably high. Anyway, we had a very nice little Christmas here on our own, even though it rained all day. Here is my new little, RV-sized coffee maker.

My other gifts were awesome as well. Mike always gets me the best presents! I wish we could have spent some time with the rest of our family but we will see them soon enough. My contract here is up in about 2 weeks and we are in the process of trying to figure out where to go next. At this point, I'm pretty sure that wherever we go next, it will probably be colder. I will really miss these 80 degree days!

Next weekend is New Year's Eve and I'm not sure where we will be when we are ringing in 2007. Possibly the everglades, Mike has been wanted to take an airboat ride, or maybe Orlando. I guess I'll figure it out this week.

Easy Weekend

For the last three weekends, Mike and I have been busy sightseeing and visiting with family. Therefore, we didn't do squat this weekend. Saturday was movie day. We did attend the ice cream social with live music being put on at the RV park. I got a HUGE sundae for $1.00. YUM! The music was golden and I think the singer forgot the words a few times.

Sunday Mike went fishing off one of the docks at our park. I haven't bought a fishing license so I sat with him and read a book. I'm an unlucky fisherman anyway. Within the first 30 minutes, my new sunglasses broke, I was aggravated by some bees, I spilled beer on myself, and, worst of all, my very sentimental, silver bookmark fell into the river. It was a freak occurrence as it just happened to fall through a tiny crack in the wood. I honestly thought about going in after it. The water couldn't have been that deep. But it was really murky and it does have alligators in it...so I held myself back. The rest of the weekend was very nice.

Family and fishing

My mom showed up on Thursday evening around 10:30. Steve and their friend, Jimmy, flew Steve's plane to Orlando and ended up getting here early Saturday afternoon. We rented a condo to stay in while they were here and it had a great view of the harbor. The guys went fishing on Saturday afternoon and despite unusually low tides, colder weather, and windy conditions, managed to catch a couple of fish, one of which we kept for dinner. They ended up staying an extra day since Steve arrived a day late. Now, thanks to my mom, Mike and I have a cute little RV-sized Christmas tree with a few presents under it.

Busch Gardens Tampa

On Saturday, Mike and I drove north to Busch Gardens (Africa themed, theme park/zoo) in Tampa. We paid extra to go on a "guided adventure tour" which meant that we had a guide walk around with us and let us go to the front of line at the rollercoasters. It was awesome! Most of the time, we even got to sit in the front row. Lunch was included and we went on a little safari type ride through their serengeti (picture something similar to a golf course with zebras, antelope, etc). On the safari ride, we were able to hand-feed giraffes, which was awesome! They have some really long, strange looking tongues. Later in the day, we went to the free Brewmaster school (it is an Anheuser Busch park, after all) and sampled some new products. Plus, they give away two free glasses (samples) of beer to all park visitors over 21 in the hospitality center. Do they do that at the Sea Worlds? They should! The rides were great and I had a really good time. No photos though. We didn't take the camara but I sure wished I had. Many a photo op was missed.
