Kiddos

Last weekend Mike and I drove south about 2.5 hours to visit with Mike's sisters and their families. It was my brother-in-law's birthday and we were going to bring the margarita fixings since they live in a beer and wine only county. No problem...we'll just pick it up on the drive down. Wrong! I think all the counties we passed through were dry. Along the way, we stopped at a little restaurant for dinner. I thought the sign on the door said no smoking but during dinner the man at the table next to ours lit up a cigarette. Upon closer inspection, the sign on the door said a non-smoking area was not available. I didn't know there were full smoking restaurants still out there. We had a fun visit and a nice time playing with the nieces and nephews. Here is a photo of them pigging out on queso (cheese dip).

Wichita Falls

Mike and I spent the weekend with his grandma and great aunt in Wichita Falls, TX. We took them out for a margarita and dinner Saturday night.

We took this picture with a cell phone thus the poor quality. The weather was great so we sat on the patio. The visit was too short but we made the most out of it. Later in the evening, Mike's grandma smoked us at "Chickenfoot", a domino game.

A Dry County?!?!

I can't believe we ended up in a dry county! Actually we don't drink that much but what a pain to drive 15 miles one way to pick up your favorite gin for an evening gin and tonic. Why do dry counties even exist anymore? If you don't want to drink alcohol, don't. If you do want to drink it, make it convenient. Just one womans opinion.

Rose country

Before we left the Hill Country...

Here is a view from the house we have been staying at. We had beautiful sunsets almost every night.

Yesterday, Mike and I packed up and moved. The RV is in service again. We (Mike) drove around 6 hours to NE Texas where we will be for the next few months, probably until better weather (late spring) settles into the northeast US and we can continue the real part of the RV trip. Let me say that we are more than ready to leave on the trip! Yesterday would have been even better, but alas, it's still snowing up there. So until then....I have started a new contract position and Mike has a few big projects coming up also. We hope to stock pile some money for the trip

I had a really nice three weeks off! Here are some photos from our trip to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area.

It's a huge granite outcropping. I used to go there as a kid and Mike had never been so we set out on a day with beautiful weather and hiked to the top. Unfortunately, the camara battery died right after we up there.

Mike, Phillip, Tracy, and I having fun on "The Mule" on my mom and Steve's property. The next 4 or 5 weekends are full with plans to visit relatives (all within a 4 hour drive) and friends visiting us. I hope we can save some money after all.
